Building an Empire

This is what EHM's (Economic Hit Men) do best: we build a global empire. We are an elite group of men and women who utilize international financial organizations to forment conditions that make other nations subservient to the U.S. corporatocracy (empire) or (U.S. large banks, government, corporations). Much like the Mafia, EHM's provide favors, providing developing countries loans to develope infrastucture such as parks, airports, highways, electric plants, etc. U.S. companies build this infrastrucuture.
~John Perkins, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

If an EHM is successful, the loans taken out by this developing country ( through and advised by the U.S.) will be so large that the debtor is forced to default. Owing the United States, giving them the ability to create an embassy, military base, or take advantage of natural resources.

Interesting to ponder the new method of creating an empire. The former military empire became obsolete with the nuclear weapon, and now is only used when EHM's fail (i.e. Iraq), to think a financial stronghold can rule the world is interesting but presents problems, what happens when we no longer have control?

Some of the hidden avenues used by the U.S. to run the world are rather fascinating and malicious even when no lives are being lost.......

This something new to me and to be frank, I am not very well educated on the subject.

On the other hand it is quite impressive how the United States has been able to occupy places around the world through military bases and other ways. I guess you could say that this is an Empire, but its not an Empire that is gained through warfare like you stated. You say that these "Avenues are Fascinating and Malicious" Couldn't you make the arguement that it is good buisness? I mean you can not honestly tell me that every single buisness follows a moral structure all the time. Why should the United States?

Our morality should not be based on those around us, unless we seek to nullify and dilute the substance of morality. We can continue to uphold those virtuous laws(not on our own but through the help of our Creator) that will endeavor to provide joy for mankind or we can seek to justify each of our actions by other individuals who have been lead away on a ship of desires being tossed side to side by each wave of turmoil and destruction.

The problem we face is being a parent to the world. Is spreading capitalism and "democracy/republic" wrong. I think they are the two finest systems conceived by man thus far is order to establish a strong, "parenthood." The question is are we the city on the hill chosen to set the example by the Creator in this time period? And when do we cross the line and become a deterrent to benefiting a growing nation?
Relating it to a personal matter, I think a parents job is to spread the best morals they know to their children (democracy, freedom, capitalism) as these morals will in turn benefit the family as a whole. However, do not steal your childrens money for your own use, or work him to death for your own glory.
