Quick Read

If any one is looking for quick read you should check out a ancient Greek play by Aristophanes called "Clouds". Its a satire making fun of the intellectual trends in Athens, mainly Socrates and his followers. I read it about a year ago for class, but I just read it again and it was better than I remembered. Its not for everyone, but you might like it. Here is a link for the play online... http://records.viu.ca/~johnstoi/aristophanes/clouds.htm

Satire against Socrates who the author is saying starved his students and taught them injust arguments. Interesting point of view. I enjoyed the part when the Better and Worse argument attacked each other. The one proclaiming clothes had ruined the students, rididng them of tradition and faith which the men at the battle of Marathon had.
Maybe this can be related to college today. Many have been convinced, college or the thinkery is the best popssible route to earn a living. When in fact, vocational school has a much lower cost and can have a much better payoff. But just like the better argument, it is overlooked. So maybe we are in fact clothed by a "safe degree," that in rough economic times could be worth very little. While many vocational trades teach pride and tradition and hard work.
Just a thought....
